The Virgin Islands Public Television System,WTJX Channel 12,is a PBS affiliate and has operated in the Virgin Islands for 37 years. It is a semi-autonomous government entity and a non-profit organization,ran by a board of directors through its Executive Director,Osbert Potter. We currently broadcast digitally and offer four distinct channels to our viewers:Our Original Channel which is a blend of local and national programs,our KIDS Channel,which provides safe,entertaining,educational programs for children that parents can trust,our Signature Channel which features PBS brand programming,and our Education Channel which showcases educational programs like GED preparatory courses.
The University of the Virgin Islands Cooperative Extension Service‘s (CES) mission is to be a dynamic,flexible organization dedicated to delivering research-based educational programs and information that addresses the critical issues that affect families,individuals,and communities of the U.S. Virgin Islands. CES’s current program areas include Agriculture and Natural Resources,4-H/Family and Consumer Sciences,Communications,Technology,and Distance Learning. UVI CES is headed by State Director,Kwame Garcia,Sr.
The Virgin Islands Department of Agriculture‘s mission is to support and promote the US Virgin Islands’Agriculture Industry,while protecting the consumers and the environment through education,development,implementation,and communication of sound agricultural policies and programs. As Commissioner of the VI Department of Agriculture,Dr. Louis Petersen’s vision is to increase its resources through partnerships,grant writing,and strategic initiatives to enhance delivery of services and programs to the farming community.
