Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Funds Available for Elementary Schools
The Department of Education’s State Office of Special Nutrition Programs is announcing the availability of its Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program for the 2011-2012 school year.
“The program provides all children in participating elementary schools with a variety of free fresh fruits and veggies throughout the school day. The program is an effective and creative way to introduce students to healthy snack options,” said State Special Nutrition Director Angela Frett.
For this school year, the territory will receive $27,167 for the program, and all elementary schools are encouraged to apply.
Applications will be available starting October 11th at the Special Nutrition Programs offices. Locations are:
St. Thomas: 4th Street on the third floor of the Herman A. Lloyd building in Sugar Estate
St. Croix: Department of Education’s main complex at 2133 Hospital Street, Christiansted
