Virgin Islands Case Files returns to WTJX-TV Channel 12 this Thursday, March 16, featuring two unsolved murder cases in which suspects are known to the police department but more information is needed to take action.

Episode six of the monthly series takes a closer look at the homicides of 29-year-old Leroy Brooks and 26-year-old Abijah Todman. Twelve years ago this month, Brooks was struck multiple times during a shootout outside the Frontline Nightclub on St. Croix. He was pronounced dead at the Juan Luis Hospital at 4:38 a.m. on March 12, 2011. Projectiles removed from Brooks’ body matched a gun that was found on an injured man at the crime scene, but detectives still need more evidence to move the case forward.

Abijah Todman was shot in the head while riding in a car with two other people near the Sunny Isles Shopping Center on August 18, 2007. “We had witnesses who saw everything. The witnesses provided us names, but they did not want to get any more involved than that,” VIPD Commander Naomi Joseph said. “In a homicide case, we would have to have somebody come in court and point out the suspects, point them out and say, ‘that's the person I [saw] firing shots.’ We still don’t have that.”

Anyone with information about these two cases should call Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222- TIPS. Virgin Islands Case Files is supported by the Virgin Islands Police Department to help address the high number of unsolved murders in the territory. The show serves as a call to action for residents to come forward with new information that could help detectives close longstanding homicide cases.
