Soul on WTJX-FM- Saturdays, 7 - 10 pmThe Soul Show, which presently airs on WYEP in Pittsburgh, is a progressive musical adventure into soul music, its origins, and its derivatives. It is a three-hour weekly program which covers upwards of five decades of music per week, presenting this thread in a cohesive and intelligent manner. Special features and themes are frequently incorporated to add depth and enrich content (Prince's legacy, Black History Month, Women's History Month, interviews with Third World, Nona Hendryx of Labelle, James Brown bandleader Fred Wesley, Stephen Colbert's drummer and multi-instrumentalist Louis Cato, etc). The Soul Show has adeptly identified emerging artist such as Grammy winner The Robert Glasper Experiment. The Soul Show II follows the same format as the original, while still managing to represent local listenership through our unique and shared musical interests as well as featuring visiting artists. The show spans the many decades of R&B in a progressive, cohesive, and carefully curated fashion with a style to energize an eager audience.
