Woodson Students Injured by BB Gun from Passing Car, Meetings Planned to Provide Updates

The Virgin Islands Police Department responded to the John H. Woodson Jr. High School at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 16 with reports of shots fired from a BB gun at students eating lunch on the front lawn. 

Seven students sustained minor bruising from the projectiles. Parents of the injured students were contacted, and students received medical attention where needed. 

School and Department of Education officials will hold a series of meetings on Friday, February 17 to provide updates: 

• 7:40 a.m. – Emergency meeting for JHW faculty and staff - library 

• 9:00 a.m. – Parent meeting – auditorium (all parents are encouraged to attend) 

• DIRECTLY FOLLOWING PARENT MEETING – Schoolwide assembly for students - auditorium 

A PTA meeting previously scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 16 at 5:30 p.m., has been postponed. 

The case is under investigation. The safety of students and staff remains a priority. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 911.
