Senator Gittens and two of his colleagues signed on to an amendment drafted by Senator Javan James Sr. striking language in the Virgin Islands Code tying senators’ salaries to the lowest-paid Executive Branch Commissioner. Given that the Territory’s lowest-paid Commissioner recently received a $15,000 pay raise, so too would Virgin Islands senators.


The Department of Health Deputy Commissioner Molloy has some advice concerning the coronavirus and what you can do to help yourself and others.


Cruise ships, which have hosted explosive coronavirus outbreaks, will remain anchored after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Wednesday extended its no-sail order through the end of October. The no-sail order, which was due to expire at the end of September, bars cruise boats with capacities above 250 from operating in the U.S. The restrictions were previously extended in July. “On cruise ships, passengers and crew share spaces that are more crowded than most urban settings,” the CDC said in a statement, adding that data “show that when only essential crew are on board, ongoing spread” of coronavirus still takes place. On Tuesday, Axios reported that Dr. Robert Redfield, the director of the CDC, was overruled at the White House while urging that the no-sail ban be extended into 2021.
