The Public Services Commission (PSC) called an emergency meeting on Friday, December 27th at 9 am. The topic of discussion was the lead generation surcharge emergency generation surcharge.
Senator Kenneth Gittens criticized the Virgin Islands Police Department for the lack of information about the rise of violent crimes that have affected the territory. "A few weeks ago, the Administration and VIPD made a public statement that they’ve pooled local law enforcement resources together, yet we have not seen any more boots on the ground and our residents are living in increasing fear of robberies and gun violence. The public needs to be assured that there is a plan in place and that the VIPD is following through" stated Senator Kenneth Gittens.
The Port Authority is advising residents and travelers that the airports are really busy with traffic during this season and that curbside parking is not allowed at either airport. The Port Authority invites residents and travelers to park in the parking lot. Port Authority suggest that friends or family traveling should call for a pickup after they have landed and picked up their luggage.
