It’s reported by the Consortium from sources at the Bureau of Corrections that director, Wynnie Testamark, has been disrespectful to employees. The Bureau of Corrections, already struggling under a federal consent decree and is experiencing internal issues made worse by Testamark, who they allege operates with little input of support staff. This led to a wave of resignations and terminations. From the legal counsel to the HR manager, accounting manager, health services director, compliance manager, three corrections officers, executive assistant — all of whom resigned — to the chief investigator who was terminated, and the locksmith, fire/life safety manager was also terminated along with the grants and programs manager. There were additional resignations from the labor relations person and the administrator.The latest resignation was that of Golden Grove Warden Joe Booker, whose last day at the facility was yesterday.

Governor Albert Bryan Jr. announced Thursday that the Virgin Islands Housing Authority has received a $69 million obligation from FEMA to pay for the demolition and replacement of residential buildings at the Tutu Hi-Rise housing community in St. Thomas. The funding will enable the demolition and replacement of the first five of 17 residential buildings damaged by hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017.
