The coronavirus has spread to at least 44 countries. In the U.S. Virgin Islands, health officials say they are "closely monitoring" the situation, there are no reported cases in the Caribbean region. Department of Health's Territorial Epidemiologist Dr. Esther Ellis is monitoring the coronavirus outbreak closely, conducting surveillance, laboratory testing and contact tracing as needed to quickly contain any possible cases,". So far more than 2,700 people have died from the virus.


While the Senate Committee on Health, Hospitals, and Human Services has scheduled a March 13 hearing on the coronavirus —— Senator Marvin Blyden has written a letter to Senate President Novelle Francis calling for an immediate Committee of the Whole hearing.


The 340 Misfits with Club President Althea Gumbs and other St. Croix Motorcycle clubs took guests from the cruise ship “Celebrity Silhouette” for a tour of St. Croix yesterday.


The Head Start Program in the St. Croix district in Frederiksted only will have early dismissal for the rest of this week due to repair of the AC system: 7:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Bus services will be provided, breakfast and lunch will be served.


Port Authority says repairs to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection screening areas have been completed at the King Airport and the Blyden Marine Terminal on St. Thomas. Normal operations will resume at both terminals on Friday, February 28. With the completion of these repairs, the long lines should be significantly reduced.
