Officers responded and found a lifeless male in the water. When the body was retrieved from the water, detectives found that the male had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was identified by next of kin as 28-year-old Jahkim E. Santiago. An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death. This case is under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau. The Dominican Republic reported its first case of the coronavirus. A 62-year-old Italian man who arrived at the Dominican Republic on February 22, 2020. He did not show any symptoms of the virus. He is currently being treated at a military hospital and is in stable condition.

Department of Education officials Friday morning fielded questions from Arthur A. Richards K-8 School teachers about the odor that has affected faculty and staff for over five months and caused its closure Friday. The was held up for over an hour because St. Croix Superintendent of Schools, Carlos McGregor, refused to allow AFT St. Croix President, Rosa Soto-Thomas, in the meeting. Mr. McGregor even called police officers to forcefully remove Mrs. Soto-Thomas, but that effort backfired, and the AFT leader could stay.
