On April 8, 4:19 a.m., police were notified of shots in Hospital Ground. Detectives found an unresponsive male lying face down in the roadway with gunshot wounds about the body. The victim, identified by next of kin as 44-year-old Deshaune Harrigan, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Later that day police were notified of a gunshot victim in Hospital Ground, in the vicinity of the Fish Market. Dispatched officers found a black male with no vital signs. The victim was identified by next of kin as Michael McKie, age 42.


V.I. public schools will remain closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year and that graduating seniors will be recognized in “virtual graduations.” However, Berry-Benjamin said that although school buildings will be closed, teaching and learning will continue. While many teachers have already begun engaging their students through remote conferencing services, beginning Tuesday, April 14, more schools will move to the expanded use of online educational platforms already in V.I. classrooms.
