Governor Albert Bryan Jr. announced he is implementing a “Safer At Home” order effective Monday, May 4. The Governor also said he is issuing an executive order that will detail the phased reopening of non-essential businesses and the guidelines to which they will be subject.
The current stay-at-home order has been extended to 6 a.m. Monday, May 4. The intention of the “Safer At Home” order is to begin the phased-reopening of the local economy in preparation for returning access to the outside world. The transition will be managed according to a five-tiered system:
Red – Total quarantine
Orange – Current Stay-At-Home order (in effect until 6 a.m. Monday, May 4)
Yellow – Safer At Home order (effective May 4)
Blue – Open Doors (hotel reservations and leisure guest bookings permitted; restaurants open for seating – anticipated June 1)
Green – New Normal
Delta Airlines is going to resume two flights to the Virgin Islands weekly from Atlanta, GA ending a gap in service because of COVID-19. Flights will be Saturday only from Atlanta to St. Croix and a less than daily flight from Atlanta to St. Thomas. The flights could begin as early as tomorrow.
The St. Thomas East End Medical Center Corporation will close at 2 pm on Friday, May 1, 2020. All patients with appointments will be seen. There are no patient appointment cancelations as a result of this early closure. STEEMCC will re-open on Monday, May 4, 2020, at 8 am.
In the BVI students are on the Internet today, it's their second dry run before returning to school on Monday. The students took online class Thursday and today and their parents also took classes. Beginning Monday, school going to start in the BVI and they are scheduled to close in July. The BVI has not yet announced a closing date.
