One of the female victims of a shooting incident that took place in Estate Paradise near Evelyn Williams Elementary School on May 15 has died The female was identified as 19-year-old Selena Chitolie. Police arrested Jiovani Smith, age 20 of Mount Pleasant and Calijah Brewley, age 19 of Marley Homes, and detained a 17-year-old-minor in connection with the shooting. New charges are pending in this matter.


Senator Kenneth L. Gittens is working to alleviate some of the anxiety associated with working on the frontlines in the battle to fight COVID-19. He is proposing bills to provide up to 80 hours of emergency paid sick leave to any first responders that contract the coronavirus or demonstrate a need to be quarantined, as well as offering a supplemental payment funded by the federal CARES Act due to the public health emergency. "We must account and compensate for the risks they take each day to keep us safe."
