Jordan Jones from Colorado State University Atmospheric Center has some information for this year's hurricane season.


The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority's (WMA) environmental enforcement officers issued 26 citations to residents who violated disposal regulations at several bin sites on St. Croix, the authority said Wednesday. Leaving household or green waste on the ground instead of depositing it in the bins; traveling without properly securing waste with a tarp thus allowing trash to be blown into the public streets, and dumping of used tires are some of the citations issued. Illegal dumping carries a $1,000 fine for each violation, the authority said. WMA said its officers will remain vigilant and issue citations to violators.


Department of Health wants people to still be cautious during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Department of Health provides some tips if individuals feel sick, have a fever or a cough. Individuals are urged to call the Department of Health Epidemiology Division at 340-712-6299 or 340-776-1519. Call 911 for emergency care.


The first annual St. Thomas Yacht Club (STYC) Invitational Regatta sponsored by Leatherback Brewing Co. will take place on June 27 to 28. Run out of the Club’s St. Thomas Sailing Center (STSC) in Cowpet Bay, this inaugural event welcomes 11 teams representing all three U.S. Virgin Islands, the British Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, U.S.A., and Sweden, according to a release issued Tuesday. The Leatherback Brewing Company and Mutiny Island Vodka, both based on St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, are co-sponsors of the 2020 STYC Invitational Regatta.
