On May 31, 5:31 p.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center received a report of shots fired on Market Street, Christiansted, better known as Times Square. Officers found an unresponsive black male on the ground. The male appeared to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Technicians on the scene concluded that the male did not have any signs of life. The victim has been identified by his next of kin as Terrance Leroy James, age 38. Police are urging anyone having information regarding this incident to call 911, the Crime TipLine at (340) 778-4950, or Crime Stoppers USVI at (800) 222-8477.
Trash haulers and companies operating the territory’s two landfills may stop hauling trash and stop maintaining the landfills by June 8 if the Waste Management Authority does not pony up some of the millions of dollars in past-due payments. But the Waste Management Authority said it does not have the money.
