Lisa Hamilton, president of the U.S. Virgin Islands Hotel and Tourism Association, wrote a letter of opposition to the mandated use of disposables that was co-signed by over 60 restaurants and the St. Thomas-St. John Chamber of Commerce, the St. Croix Chamber of Commerce, the St. Croix Hotel Association, the St. Thomas-St. John Hotel Association; and additional food service businesses.
In the press conference yesterday Governor Bryan made it clear he rather err for safety and health dealing with those disposals for restaurants which goes into effect on June 22.
The Anguila landfill is officially open today at 6 am. Operations at the landfill were suspended when an active fire was reported at 8:04 pm, Friday, June 12.
