Governor Albert Bryan Jr. on Monday announced the start of his “Healthier Horizons” initiative, a sweeping reform of healthcare in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Healthier Horizons is built on a foundation of three tenets:

· Increasing access to healthcare

· Modernizing the delivery of health services to residents

· Facilitating the rebuilding of our healthcare infrastructure

“My office, along with Commissioner Justa Encarnacion, Commissioner Kimberley Causey-Gomez and other agencies of the Administration have been steadily advancing a series of health initiatives to increase access to healthcare, modernize the delivery of health services to residents, and strategically facilitate the rebuilding of our healthcare infrastructure,” Governor Bryan said.

VITEMA and other disaster support groups have been mobilizing in the territory and getting ready for the hurricane season. Governor Bryan urges everyone to prepare homes and families for an active season.

The Women's Coalition of St. Croix (WCSC) has announced that the 2020 Women Race — the 36th annul — will be virtual this year, with women and girls registering online, completing their two miles wherever they are, and posting their time online, during the week of August 23 through the 30.

“This year you have a whole week to complete the race, so it can be done with less stress, but at the same time show your support for crime victims and survivors. Registration is online only, starting on August 23. Participants have one week to complete two miles—running, walking, jogging—any form of movement, and post their time online. “The Women Race tradition must continue, despite the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Clema Lewis, WCSC's executive director.
