Following the completion of the internal review process outlined by its personnel policies and procedures, deputy legal counsel, Mark Kragel is no longer employed with the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority. He had called the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement a "domestic terrorist organization," and went on to use an expletive against BLM. Kupfer also thanked WAPA employees and members of the Virgin Islands community for their patience in allowing the Authority to address these matters in accordance with its internal processes.
A shooting in St. Thomas led to the death of a former department of planning and natural resources officer. It happend about 4:30 pm yesterday.
On June 23 at about 4:11 p.m., Emergency Call Center received a report of shots being fired in Grove Place, in the vicinity of the Eulalie R. Rivera K-8 School. a male gunshot victim was taken to the Juan Francisco Luis Hospital & Medical Center via private vehicle. The victim reported he was driving on Grove Place Road and someone called out his name. Subsequently, an unknown person shot at his vehicle, hitting him in the arm and leg. Officers on the scene found a vehicle with bullet holes and numerous spent shell casings. Police are urging anyone who may have seen what happened to call 911, the Crime TipLine at (340) 778-4950, or Crime Stoppers USVI at (800) 222-TIPS.
During the Finance Committee yesterday, Senator Hodge questioned Public Works about the possibility of ferry service between St. Thomas and St. Croix.
