Twenty-four of the 25 new coronavirus cases reported in the territory Sunday night were recorded on St. Croix, as an outbreak that started last week on the island continues to expand its reach. Two of the cases on St. Croix were transmitted through close contact, while 22 were still under investigation as of Sunday night. The single case on St. Thomas was transmitted through close contact. Total confirmed cases on St. Croix was 138 as of Sunday, while total cases on St. Thomas and St. John stood at 62 and 6, respectively. Department of Health said it was tracking 104 active cases. To date, 4,296 tests were performed, of which 4,084 returned negative and a total of 206 were positive. Six people have died as a result of the virus.


Senator Donna Frett-Gregory asked Acting Chair of the Casino Control Commission, Usie Richards, whether the previous chair had to pay back any funds taken.


Senate President Novelle E. Francis, Jr. says the 33rd Legislature has opted to allow the automatic extension of the State of Emergency, which was requested by Governor Albert Bryan, Jr. Francis said the Legislature’s decision to allow the automatic extension is predicated by the statutory timeline and the Legislature’s fiscal constraints. “The timeline to act on the matter within five days was challenging, considering the Legislature had just convened on June 29 for the legislative session. It’s not practical or prudent at this time to convene a session to approve something that is obviously needed.” Francis stated.


The Department of Health requests that individuals follow D.O.H's instruction if an individual is not felling well.


Bureau of Motor Vehicles’ (BMV) Offices in each district will be closed on Tuesday, July 14, 2020. The bureau’s employees will be engaged in mandatory training.
