Waste Management Authority has a trash/garbage issue on St. Thomas that has resulted in Nazareth, Rapune Hill, Crown Mountain, and the Nadir dump sites overflowing with trash. The contractor refuses to collect the garbage because WMA owes money. Melody Rames, WMA spokeswoman, confirmed that the authority has been having problems with Sleepy's Trucking concerning monies owed to the company.


Public Service Commission (PSC) Executive Director Donald Cole shared brief testimony on the measure's requirements for each of the proposed five members of the management committee. “It may be difficult to fill the specified criteria with locally available expertise," he said. "It will be difficult to find the personnel with the requisite level of experience who are not past or present members of the Water and Power management or board.” Another concern of Mr. Cole was that certain parts of the bill were already required by law and overlap with existing provisions.


National Park Service citing recent boating incidents along with the rapid growth of COVID-19 and public health advisories announced the immediate closure of Buck Island for public use until further notice.


The Virgin Islands-Puerto Rico Friendship Committee presented 2020 scholarship awards to two outstanding high school graduates. Neisha Bennett and Shazim Ajani Brandy, both top 25 graduates of the St. Croix Educational Complex’s Class of 2020, each received $1,000 from the committee, Ana Foster and Luis Torres, presented the graduates each with an additional $250 award.
