The V.I. Department of Health (D.O.H) Saturday confirmed another coronavirus case after confirming 13 new infections a day earlier. D.O.H. also listed an additional patient as recovered, leaving the active cases unchanged at 29, and recoveries at 77. The latest case was confirmed on St. Croix in the close contact category, according to D.O.H.'s Saturday infographic.

Limetree Bay workers residing at the Man Camp have been ordered not to leave the facility by Governor Albert Bryan, following an outbreak at the refinery that has resulted in a total of 20 individuals being infected. V.I. Department of Health Territorial Epidemiologist Dr. Esther Ellis says the confirmed cases at Limetree Bay on Friday include a mix of local and off-island employees, enhancing the risk of spreading the disease into the wider community. The D.O.H. data shows close contact of the virus more than doubling from Thursday to Friday, from 17 to 32.
On July 4 at about 11:48 a.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center received reports of shots being fired in the Smithfield / Two Brothers area, just east of Walter I. M. Hodge Pavilion. Officers found an adult Black male who sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Technicians on the scene made a check of the victim and concluded that he had no vital signs. He was identified by next of kin as 23-year-old Nathaniel Heywood of Walter I. M. Hodge Pavilion.

During Thursday’s Finance Committee hearing White said 58 projects have qualified for public assistance funding through the Federal Emergency Management Administration and are in various stages of completion.
The Office of the Lieutenant Governor is reminding the public that the amnesty period where interests and penalties assessed against all outstanding real property taxes in the territory are waived expires July 17.
