The gas station bill moves on. Senator Gitten makes his point about the proliferation of gas stations in the territory.
On September 22 at approximately 10:10 a.m., 28-year-old Matthew Fontaine, who is presently in the custody of the Bureau of Corrections on a separate matter, was arrested and charged with 1st Degree Aggravated Rape – Domestic Violence; 1st Degree Rape; 1st Degree Unlawful Sexual Contact; Child Abuse; 2nd Degree Rape; and 1st Degree Assault. Fontaine was accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old female on several occasions. The victim reported that he threatened her with a firearm during the sexual assaults. Bail for Fontaine was set at $150,000. Unable to post bail, he was remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending his Advice of Rights hearing.
The Virgin Islands Police Department has identified the body found in the bushes east of Cramer’s Park on April 28. DNA testing revealed the remains to be that of 19-year-old Emanuel Moise. The cause of death was from multiple gunshot wounds sustained by the victim. An investigation continues into this matter.
