3. Weatherization Day
   • Where: United States Virgin Islands
   • Weatherization Day is being proclaimed in the Virgin Islands on Sept. 9. An event to educate the public and the media about the Weatherization Assistance Program’s (VI WAP) will be held at Flamboyant Gardens on St. Croix. This is the first year that the Virgin Islands has been awarded federal funds for Weatherization. The goal of the program is to improve energy efficiency for low-income families, particularly for the elderly, people with disabilities and families with children under five-years old, by improving the energy efficiency of their homes while ensuring their health and safety. The Energy Office expects to audit and weatherize 430 homes over the next three years.
